2010 Krieghoff Masters Update
Written by The NSSA

2010 Krieghoff Masters News - Waiver Received

Attention Skeet Shooters: On Jan. 11, NSSA HQ received word from the Ft. Bragg Clay Target Center (CTC) that shooters planning on attending the Krieghoff Masters Skeet Championship would be required to provide information to the post Provost Marshal, including Social Security Number and the Serial Numbers of any guns brought to the CTC. It was felt that such requirements (mandated by the CTC’s higher command) would endanger the participation of the shoot.

HQ worked diligently with the CTC to try to get a waiver to these requirements, and late last week, we received information from Ft. Bragg that they have waived the registration requirements for the CTC. As a result, negotiations with the CTC have resumed and we are planning on holding the 2010 Masters at the Ft. Bragg Clay Target Center.

The NSSA and the shoot sponsors would like to thank everyone who was involved in helping to have the registration restrictions waived, and we are looking forward to a successful shoot. A Few Words From Our New President
Written by Donny Weaver
Friday, 25 September 2009 08:20

As I take on the Office of President of the NCSSA, I have a few things I would like to address.

First of all is the Youth Shooting Program.  Don Wise has expressed his desire to work on the Hall of Fame Program and has asked me to find a replacement for him.  I have spoken with several candidates.  So if anyone would like to step up to be Director of Youth Shooting Program, please do so.  We had a large increase this year in the number of Sub-Jr. and Jr. shooters, across the state.  And we should continue to put more effort into this program.  I encourage each club that does not have a program going at this time to start one -- the rewards of working with a group of young shooters is one of the best things I have experienced in the all years I have been shooting.  All it takes is to get a couple of shooters started and the next thing you, you might have more than you think you can handle. For the Clubs that have their program, just keep up the good work, I know the rewards are great.

Second on the list is the handling of the shoot-offs at the State Shoot.  We will work on this before next year’s shoot.  Although we post the Shoot-off sheets as soon as possible, we continue to have a problem with getting this done in a reasonable amount of time.  I would like to have a group of referees to structure the shoot-off, under the Chief Referee’s guidance.  They would call all Shoot-offs for each Event, then start the Gun Championship Shoot-off, Classes and/or Concurrent Shoot-offs would be lined up on the adjoining fields.  If you have any suggestion that you think would help please let me know.

Shoot Schedule would be next.  Please complete and turn in your Shoots Request for 2010 as soon as possible.  Scott and the NSSA need this info and the sooner the better.  We will work to setup the schedule with as little conflict as possible with other shoots.  We will give precedent to 4-Gun Shoots over 2-Gun Shoots, so if you are asked to reschedule please understand why.  Also it takes several months lead time for shoots to be in Skeet Shooting Review, so keep this in mind also.

I look forward to the next year of Skeet Shooting in North Carolina -- hopefully we can work to make it the best year yet.  As we all face the problems of today’s world, maybe we can enjoy the weekends and the sport that we must really love to do (as it can be painful at times!).

Thank you for your time,
Donny
